On September 18-19, 2024, the Municipality of Budapest, Political Capital, and the CEU Democracy Institute successfully hosted the Budapest Forum, an annual pro-democracy conference that has grown in size and influence since its inception in 2021. The two-day event brought together mayors, decision-makers, policy experts, academics, and grassroots activists to address some of the most pressing issues facing citizens of democratic and nominally democratic nations today. As a pro-democracy, anti-populist platform, the Budapest Forum centered on Building Sustainable Democracies, fostering meaningful dialogue for the future of Central and Eastern Europe and beyond.
